Joan Sutherland's Day
Although there are other operas that I prefer to Lakme, "Viens Mallika/Flower duet" is my absolute, most favorite aria and the 1967 Monte Carlo Opera with Joan Sutherland is my most favorite recording of said song. I know, there are better quality and probably better sounding recordings but this one has very special family memories attached to it so it will forever remain the closest to my heart.

As noted by commenters, there is contradictory data disputing the original source of this post. And now the original source has gone all HTTP 404.
Isn't it cool how a little digging here and a little digging there by a multitude of interested parties can get to the bottom of issues and clear up the matter? Too bad we didn't see more of that in the past few months.
