A Stellar Day In DNC History

Yes, boys and girls, it's time once again to mark the annual recurrence of the Dem's remarkable feat of losing China.

A Palestinian boy holds a machinegun as militant members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades brandish their weapons during a rally at the Al-Ein refugee camp near the West Bank city of Nablus September 30, 2005. Israeli forces killed two Palestinian gunmen and a teenager in the occupied West Bank on Friday, pressing ahead with raids against militants despite a halt to cross-border rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip. The week-long wave of violence has badly frayed a seven-month-old ceasefire and deflated hopes that Israel's Gaza pullout, completed on September 12, might soon open the way for a revival of peacemaking after five years of bloodshed. So Many Flowers

Sister Rebeca Garcia walks past a section of the U.S.-Mexico border wall on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. Immigrant rights workers placed 3,600 flowers representing the same number of migrants known to have died while crossing undocumented into the United States. October 1, is the 11th anniversary of the start of Operation Gatekeeper, the U.S. policy to shore up the border against undocumented migration, which caused many migrants to take dangerous routes through mountains and deserts resulting in more deaths. I wonder how many flowers it takes to represent the same number of Mexican citizens who have died because of their own corrupt government? I also wonder where that wall of flowers is?

Courtney Love is up in arms over a new tell-all penned by her mother, Linda Carroll, that claims among other things that the troubled rocker started using drugs at the age of 4.

It seems to me that this book could actually be a good thing for Ms. Love. At least now she will have a plausible excuse for being such a train wreck.

Enough With The Self-Flagellation!

Junkyard Blog hits the nail on the head with this whole Bill Bennett situation:

"Bill Bennett has nothing to apologize for."

...and Bush's weighing in on the matter:

"The Bush administration should stop being so weak and defensive and start living in the real world again. The administration should stop kneecapping its fellow Republicans and, once in a while at least, criticize some of the over-the-top nonsense the Democrats (that would be the opposition party, Mr. President) regularly spew."

Why Bush felt he had to respond to this is beyond me.
